Architectural Concept

Idea

Idea

Valentina Tulupova Airport draws inspiration from Omsk’s natural landscape and cultural heritage. The design of the new airport emerged from the intersection of two elements: the steppe wind that sweeps across the open spaces of the Omsk Region, and the fluidity of dance—a symbol of the cultural heritage associated with Tulupova’s name.

Formwork

The building’s shape was inspired by the intersection of various wind currents sweeping across the steppe. This architectural image has become a symbol of the intertwining of different cultures and people, brought together in one place.

Facade

The silhouette changes dynamically thanks to the roof's sculptural design

The roof refracts and reflects soft light. The steppe vegetation, consisting of a variety of grasses and other plants, creates a smooth transition between nature and the building.

Structure

The atrium’s structural system: half-timbered columns distribute the load from the roof and diffuse light; main beams (h = 1.5 m) span the opening; secondary beams (h = 0.5 m) form a cross-beam system.
