The image, born from the winds blowing outside, lives on inside as well. The half-timbered columns are the only active element in the space. They support the roof, diffuse the light, and set the rhythm of the atrium. Everything else concrete, wood, glass—is intentionally understated so as not to compete with the architecture.

The exposed concrete on the walls and floors provides a neutral backdrop and acts as an acoustic buffer in this noisy transit space. Wooden inserts horizontal strips along the walls around the perimeter of the atrium add warmth and a human scale, evoking the wooden structures of the Omsk Region’s steppes. Metal columns clad in membrane material round out the palette and serve as light fixtures.
