About the project
The school is located three hundred kilometers from Astana, in a national nature reserve. The program spans two years — grades 10 and 11 — during which students from across the country prepare for university admission.
In summer, the campus hosts a camp for students from other schools, where they can relax by the lake surrounded by nature while deepening their academic knowledge.
The school's architectural volume is shaped by the desire to integrate it into the surrounding landscape and create internal courtyards oriented toward different vantage points. Each courtyard serves a specific function. The school's visual identity is rooted in the local landscape — it blends harmoniously with its surroundings while standing as a bastion of contemporary education.
Facade
The facades feature a restrained natural color palette. The combination of textures and materials accentuates the facade plasticity, while large glazed windows convey a sense of openness. Openness is one of the project's core characteristics — the school's concept establishes that the learning process should be transparent for students and their families, and communication with teachers should be open and welcoming.
The site plan concept features four separate courtyards on the school grounds, each serving a specific function. Beyond the courtyards, there are other open areas for which we designed usage scenarios. The assembly hall offers views of an open space with an apple orchard.
Here students can socialize under the shade of trees. There is also an active recreation area for table tennis and other games. The school grounds provide access to the lake with a small boat dock and boathouse.
