About the project

The project won first place among 377 teams that submitted 131 entries. Collaborating with the Chinese studio allowed us to bring authenticity of Chinese culture and a deep understanding of the country's values to the project. The museum is a cultural center that, in addition to exhibitions, features a local cuisine restaurant and a community space for residents.

Integration of the building into the landscape

The center will be situated on five terraced levels with a man-made waterfall, whose water will be collected from a local river, reflecting the sky with its depth and freedom. Thus, the architecture harmoniously integrates into the landscape, enriching it with a new element that could have appeared here without human intervention—a waterfall.

Each of the five levels carries its own function: history, engagement, diversity, creation, and meditation. The terraces offer breathtaking views of the valley immersed in greenery. Nature becomes a full participant in the exhibitions on every museum level—we blur the boundaries between the surrounding landscape and the museum's interior space. The design uses local materials—red sandstone, bamboo, stone, clay, and wood—creating an authentic museum interior.
