The area of the DSK-500 Tyumen’s house-building plant becomes a technological and social cluster. The renovation has two goals—to develop a space for a more efficient and rational process of technological production and to expand activities that are open to the public. Thus, the project will bring the citizens closer to the world of technology, and become a vibrant space for the birth of new ideas.

The concept integrates the industrial landscape with the natural one—the DSK-500 technological cluster is conceived as a new city in which everything is provided for a comfortable, fulfilled life of its inhabitants. The ensemble of industrial artefacts is combined with large green areas and a picturesque boulevard, a new vertical dominant feature appears, a kind of observatory which provides an overview of the production process-show. The existing DSK building is transformed into a rich spatial experience. The long, huge building, covered with a single roof, is a technological sculpture dissected by a gap filled with life. On a human scale, the Technopark is a structure of several differently shaped and contained functional blocks, between which streams of people flow, imbuing the cluster with life.

The arrangement of the blocks makes it possible to tell a coherent story about the technological and production processes taking place in the building. The image of the Technopark was inspired by the main building itself, which is striking in its scale. The traditional Tyumen patterned décor and carved tin plates of the eaves and gutters also found their way into the design code. Wood, the basic building material for DSK’s products, has become the most important material.

The new technology park will consist of rooms partly open to the public, creative and cultural activities, with industrial processes taking place here. A concept unique for Russia, where the production cluster is transformed into a public area while retaining its previous function. The functional zoning concept proposes dividing the territory into several distinct zones—autonomous volumes located under a ‘super-roof’: offices and science, event centre, IT village, creative production and a logistics hub. User tracks and usage scenarios have been thought out.
